Under the slogan “Ville d’art, de culture et de savoir” (City of art, culture, and knowledge), Sainte-Thérèse has a rich built heritage, a thriving business community and a fascinating history that makes its residents proud. Its attractions include the Collège Lionel-Groulx, the only CEGEP in the Lower Laurentians and the Lionel-Groulx Theatre, and a dynamic downtown area full of local businesses.

NATURE

Some of Sainte-Thérèse’s neighbourhoods are known for their abundance of mature trees, which offer a spectacular show of colour in the fall. The Parc de Sève area is always very popular with walkers, winter, and summer alike!

Sainte-Thérèse has 29 parks and activity sites, including the incomparable Jardin des Sources, a green space made up of ponds surrounded by forest trails. Ducks, herons, and geese enjoy basking in the sun while residents work out on one of the Trekfit and Benchfit circuits set up near the shoreline.

In addition, residents of Sainte-Thérèse have free access to the Parc du Domaine Vert, located on Montée Sainte-Marianne. A tree-to-tree aerial course, fat bike trails, cross-country skiing and snowshoe trails, sledding hills, picnic areas and other outdoor activities await you!

The city also provides two community gardens for citizens to grow herbs and vegetables.

RECREATION

Sainte-Thérèse has many recreational and sports facilities for the summer months. In addition to four water parks, the outdoor pool in Parc Richelieu is the place to cool down on hot days. The Richard-Garneau track and field stadium allow the region’s athletes to train on one of the 10 running lanes with free access for residents. Soon, the population of Sainte-Thérèse will benefit from a brand new, well-designed arena that will complete the current offer of activities.

Many activities take place in the parks in the summer, such as soccer programs, yoga and aerobics sessions, and day camps. To encourage physical activity on its territory, the City of Sainte-Thérèse has set up two designated running and walking trails, where there are water stations to rehydrate.

Culture

Sainte-Thérèse offers a wide range of festivals and cultural events throughout the year, confirming its artistic and cultural inclination. Whether it’s the famous Santa Teresa Fest, Music 4 Cancer or the diverse summer program, the city is a significant player in the metropolitan area’s music scene. The famous Christmas Village Lighting Party and the Fête des Papilles remain highly anticipated each year. Fans of the performing arts are also delighted by the shows presented by Odyscène at the Lionel-Groulx Theatre and the BMO Cabaret.

Renovated and expanded in 2010, the Sainte-Thérèse Library offers some 140,000 books, CDs, DVDs, periodicals and other documents, and a wide range of cultural programming, which includes story time for the little ones, a book club, public readings, author get-togethers and conferences.
